Calls for
Papers
Long has
there been a gap in the provision of information about calls for
papers for communication studies. This section of the ANZCA site
is an attempt to bridge that gap and provides links to conference
websites, journal websites and other resources for academics,
researchers and business and government interests engaged in these
fields. The focus is on Australian events and publications but
the reach is international.
If you have
a conference or journal pertaining to these fields, and do not
find it listed here, please contact the Wemaestro at joanne@joannejacobs.net
with details.

PR-axis
Host: Bond University
Description:
PR-axis
is a new communication and public relations online portal currently
under construction by the Department of Communication &
Media Studies, Bond University. It aims to provide a one-stop
research and discussion resource for students, academics, and
industry practitioners, and a publishing outlet for refereed
articles, particularly at postgraduate level. The site will
include a fully-refereed online academic journal, expected to
be called PRism.
All
communications researchers, but particularly postgraduate and
final or honours year undergraduate students in communication,
media, and public relations are invited to submit papers for
the first issue of PRism. All papers are welcome for consideration,
but particularly those which address the general theme of 'change'.
Change encompasses many things: transformation, difference,
exchange, interchange, small change, short changed, changing
sides, switching, swapping, substitution, altering, moving,
becoming new, changing hands, changing the guard, changing your
tune... Allow the word 'change' to stimulate, rather than restrict,
your thinking: let your imagination take flight.
Feel free to use our suggestions or make one of your own; you
can approach the diverse issue of 'change' from any communications-related
angle. Broad change-related areas might include:
· How has the world changed post-Internet, post-September
11, or
· post-public relations?
· Is it time for a 'changing of the guard' in public
relations?
· What is the role of public relations in change management?
· How and why should public relations change in the 21st
century?
· What needs changing most about the interactions between
PR and media, PR and PR, PR and clients, or PR and the world?
· What should change about the way PR is taught in universities?
· Should PR change the way it does its own PR?
· Should PR change its name?
· Can PR change the world for the better?
Contributions are also welcome which address change in the areas
of organisational and business communication, journalism, media
studies, cultural studies, etc.
Get thinking and get writing ... then get published! We don't
pay for contributions but you will get valuable feedback, the
glory of publication if successful, and research points for
your institution (if applicable).
CHANGE ... it's the spice of life!
Please register your initial interest by submitting a 150 word
abstract to Elspeth Tilley by August 15. Articles should be
3000 to 5000 words maximum (excluding references) and adhere
to the submission guidelines. Articles accepted for further
consideration will be due by September 31, with publication
of successfully refereed articles anticipated in January, 2003.
The journal also includes a 'commentary' section for shorter,
non-refereed articles. If you just want to get something off
your chest, and think your 'rant' will be of interest to your
peers, conside sending a 1000-2000 word (MAX) article, clearly
marked for the commentary section.
Submission Guidelines:
Articles should be academically rigorous (e.g. methodologically
and theoretically sound, and thoroughly researched and referenced)
but written in a style that is accessible to anyone interested
in communication and its implications (NOT just your supervisor!).
Use plain English and, if you must use jargon, clearly explain
its meaning. When submitting your final article (as a word document
attached to an email), please also send a 100 word biography
that tells us a few fun facts about you and your interests.
Please adhere STRICTLY to APA style in preparing your manuscript
and references. Articles which do not fulfill this criteria
will not be sent to referees. We reserve the right to edit your
work before publication.
Please submit abstracts and articles via e-mail to Elspeth Tilley:
